Why Squarespace is the best website platform for wellness brands
Heads up! This page contains affiliate links (including Squarespace affiliate links). If you buy something through one of those links, you won’t pay a penny more, but we’ll earn a small commission. We’ll never promote something that we don’t 100% believe in and use ourselves. Thank you for your support!
It’s no secret I love Squarespace...the WSS site is built on Squarespace and all my templates are on Squarespace as well. I’d say we’re pretty official 💕
But today I decided to let you in on the reasons why I think most small-medium wellness businesses should build their site on Squarespace.
So here we go!
1 | Simplicity + power
Squarespace is so simple and easy-to-use that I could train a website newbie on how to fully manage and update their site in less than 2 hours. But it’s powerful enough to host websites of multiple 6 and 7-figure businesses.
This, my friends, is the golden ticket of Squarespace.
It’s so easy to add or delete pages on your site, insert all kinds of content, and adjust many different style settings. The back-end interface is well organized and the “drag and drop” capabilities just make it so dang easy with no coding required! (though you can custom code inside Squarespace if you want to get fancy 💁💁)
And don’t worry, Squarespace isn’t just the website builder you start out with until your business outgrows it and you’re ready to graduate to the big leagues...it really can grow with your business!
Trust me, I wouldn’t have built my own website on Squarespace if I thought WSS would outgrow its capabilities within a few years. Changing website platforms is a beast and I’m going to avoid it at all costs!
And finally, Squarespace is constantly making improvements and updates so it’s only getting better from here.
2 | All-in-one platform
This is a biggie too. Squarespace has thought of just about everything you would need for your website and built it right there into the platform for a seamless design experience.
This means you don’t need to buy a domain from GoDaddy, purchase hosting from Blue Host, and then build your site on Wordpress after you’ve spent hours trying to figure out how to connect it all together...no thank you! 🙅🙅
Your domain, hosting, and website builder is all neatly packaged inside the Squarespace pricing plans and it really couldn’t be any easier. (and yes, you can connect a domain to your Squarespace site that you purchased from a third-party like GoDaddy).
But what really makes Squarespace stand out is all the other features and integrations that are right there at your fingertips.
For most wellness brands, you’ll probably need a blog, email marketing to build your email list, an easy way to book consultation calls without back and forth emails, and possibly an online store to sell physical or digital products.
Yep, Squarespace does all of that. No more piecing together different pieces of the internet to make your site work for you 🙌🙌🙌
And don’t forget about the 75+ other integrations that are built into the platform. Things like Dropbox, YouTube, Instagram, OpenTable, Yelp, Mail Chimp, and many others can be connected to within a matter of seconds...hallelujah!
3 | Security
Having a secure website is essential...there’s just no getting around it. Especially if you want your visitors to feel safe viewing your site and potentially purchasing from you.
Squarespace tackles site security from a few different angles…
First, they offer SSL certificates which basically means your URL starts with https:// instead of http:// and you’ll see a lock symbol to the left of the URL. That extra “s” and lock symbol means that there’s a secure connection between your browser and the website you’re visiting.
Having an SSL certificate ensures your site visitors 3 important security benefits: 1) Privacy which encrypts the connection and securely transmits private information 2) Date integrity which prevents unauthorized users from altering personal information and 3) Authentication which protects against impersonation.
All new Squarespace sites come with the SSL certificate enabled but you can always double check by going to Settings>Advanced>SSL in the Squarespace menu and making sure it’s set to “Secure.”
The second way Squarespace handles site security is by being a closed-source platform. All this means is every single one of the applications and integrations is designed and controlled by Squarespace. This is helpful because it prevents unauthorized hackers wreaking havoc on your website.
Another common website builder (ahem, lookin’ at you Wordpress) is an open-sourced platform which means anyone out there can design a theme, plugin, or integration. And there’s not really a team of Wordpress employees monitoring the security of your site and making sure it stays up-to-date to ward off any kind of threats. It’s all up to you to make sure your theme, plugins, widgets, and applications are correctly coded and stay up-to-date. And if you’re not super tech savvy, this can open your site to all kinds of security issues.
Now due to the nature of the internet, no website is 100% secure 100% of the time. That’s just the risk we take when we use the world wide interwebs. But with Squarespace, you can rest assured your website is as safe as it possibly could be with a team ready to jump and take action for you if anything were to ever go wrong.
4 | Support
Ever get stuck on something and your attempts to talk to someone for help makes you want to throw your computer against a wall? Yeah, me too.
But that will not be your experience with Squarespace. Their support team is 🔥🔥🔥
They have HQ in Portland, NYC and Dublin so there’s always someone ready to help you out with whatever problem you’re struggling with. There’s live chat available M-F 4am-8pm EST and email support 24/7.
They also have an extensive library of articles and tutorials to help you along the way if you’d rather research solutions yourself.

5 | Responsive Design
Did you know over 50% of website traffic in 2018 came from a mobile device? (Source) That’s over half of your potential sales coming from a smartphone!
This means you HAVE to think about the mobile experience for your website visitors. You need to make your website easy-to-use on mobile to keep your people happy because happy people are more likely to hand over their credit card digits.
Squarespace is a responsive platform which means it automatically adjusts the look of your site to accommodate whatever size screen your visitor is using.
Now there are some things that just won’t ever look as good on mobile as they will on a desktop, but Squarespace does a pretty darn good job in ensuring a seamless mobile experience.
One of the biggest myths floating around out there about Squarespace is that a Squarespace website negatively impacts your SEO. If you’re not familiar with that term, it stands for Search Engine Optimization and it basically means how well your website ranks for specific search terms that someone might enter into a search engine, like Google or Bing (but let’s be honest, does anyone actually use Bing?)
I’ll be writing more in the future about why this is 100% completely false but for now, just trust me that having a Squarespace website doesn’t mean you inherently have a lower SEO ranking than a site on another platform.
The three overarching factors that majorly affect your SEO--creating quality content consistently, generating backlinks, and ensuring a seamless user experience--aren’t dependent on what platform you choose.
But Squarespace makes it so easy (are you seeing a general theme here?!) with lots of built-in tools to help you improve your SEO like site title, seo description, SSL certificates and blogging.
7 | Easy + affordable pricing structure
Considering all that you get with your Squarespace subscription, their pricing can’t be beat.
Yes, there are platforms out there that are technically cheaper than Squarespace but the old adage, “You get what you pay for,” most definitely applies here.
With Squarespace, it’s one up-front payment that includes everything (except Email Campaigns, that’s an additional fee).
Their cheapest plan is $12 per month for the Personal plan. The Business plan will cost you $18 per month, and the most expensive e-commerce plan will cost you $40 per month.
You can view all the details of their pricing plans here.
Well that’s it! All the reasons I think Squarespace is the best website platform for wellness brands.
But are there any scenarios when I wouldn’t recommend Squarespace?
If you have a super complicated online store, Shopify would probably work best for you. And if you need advanced functionalities like hosting a forum or a detailed search engine, you should look into a Wordpress developer.
But other than that, Squarespace should be everything that you need for your wellness biz.
And don’t forget, use code PARTNER10 at checkout to receive 10% your first year of any Squarespace plan.
